April 22, 2023 - Subsequent notes on this wine from about 9 years ago. Dark garnet in color with slight clearing at the edges. Full, forward, assertive & aromatic nose of mature, ripe dark fruit aromas of cherries, blackcurrants & plums with overtones of earthy/dusty & floral notes, tobacco, leather, tar, coffee, anise, herbs, minerals & a hint of cedar. Full bodied with very good concentration of well balanced & silky smooth textured, mature, ripe dark fruit flavors of cherries, blueberries & plums with mushrooms, minerals & a hint of oak. Long, lingering smooth finish. Drinks quite well at present and should hold onto this current stage of development for a few more years although any further development would be minimal. Ullage was in lower neck; cork was stained 1/2 up but intact.

January 30, 2021 - Fruit has faded dramatically since the last bottle. Could be bottle variation but this has a lingering finish but little forward fruit after being open for an hour+.

July 17, 2020 - Purchased from the winemaker in Italy in 2006 and bottle held up very nicely over 19 years in our home cellar.

June 7, 2020 - Opened about 2 hrs before starting. Plum, anise and perhaps a bit of underripe strawberry. Finish that lingers forever. Very well made and drinking beautifully right now.
