    October 20, 2019 - From magnum.
    Brick edge, garnet core.
On the nose, tobacco, dried fruit, graphite, pencil shavings and vanilla.
Medium body, low tannin, silky mouthfeel, moderate acidity.
Tannins hang around on the finish which is slightly clipped.
Drinking great now but it needed a good hour to open up. Would go another 5+ years easy, but why wait?

October 11, 2019 - Restrained nose, but could get blackberry and paprika. Could tell that the tannins have started to soften, but definitely some more years, or decades to go. Very classic, of blackberry, grass, graphite, pepper. Being still so primary at 41 years, there’s pretty certain possibility I might not be able to see it fully develop in my lifetime. Intriguing

    October 6, 2019 - Enjoyed this paired with a 1982 Canon.

Decanted for an hour — initial impressions were that the Margaux was at least 10 years older than the Canon in every way. Lighter color, mature rim. Fully mature dark fruits laced with cedar and spice notes. Resolved tannins, elegant texture, nice finish. The Canon showed all the 1982 vintages strengths. Rich underlying fruit, luxurious texture almost sumptuous wine.

Interestingly after a couple of hours, the Margaux presented far younger. It darkened, the mid palate filled out and the fruit sweetened a touch.

In the end this was a wonderful pairing of two fine Bordeaux’s both drinking very nicely

May 18, 2019 - A beautiful, highly perfumed nose of violets, rose petals, tobacco, briary red fruits, cedar and truffle. The palate is elegant and nicely balanced. There's a core of sweet fruit and plenty of cedar and earth. There's a hint of leathery development and a salty black olive character. Tannins are fine-grained and it has outstanding persistence. Absolutely drinking at the top of its game.
