October 17, 2023 - Vinous Piedmont Icons Dinner @ Legacy Records (Legacy Records, NYC): The '04 was fascinating to taste next to the 2000, as the generational change clearly made a huge impact to the style of the wines here.

I found a very classic, pure red-fruited expression of Nebbiolo, with super sweet red cherry fruit, sweet spices, raw meat, and mint. On the palate, the wine is medium in body with a super finessed texture, with almost no perceptible tannin. Compared to the 2000, the flavor profile here was so much purer, without any leathery, slightly oxidative notes. This was a super enjoyable wine, but I didn't find a ton of complexity.

October 9, 2020 - Annual Pilgrimage to Piedmont - 2020 Edition; 10/9/2020-10/11/2020 (Piemonte, Italy): Another unicorn wine from the great cellar of Il Centro a Priocca, Piedmont .
A good modernist Barbaresco , modern like modern Piedmont needs to be or become according to us. A touch heavier and richer than the classic versions but this is special in its style without being heavy or in anyway overdone.
Bright dark fruits, cherry notes of course, soft spice. Lots of palate presence and length , energetic still and with a long way to go.super solid 94 for now but with lots of potential ahead.

August 1, 2020 - Mørk og moden nese; underskog, tobakk, krydder og blomster. Mjuk og elegant i munnen, finkornede tanniner med en meget god finish. Krydret, mineralsk og ytterst balansert. Perfekt nå. Lytefri nebbe. (94+)

June 12, 2018 - Barrel and Bottle Tasting with Luca Roagna (Roagna Winery): The nose was dark and much more mature than expected, showing layers of mulled cherry, sweet spice, undergrowth, tobacco, peach, and floral tones. On the palate, I found a soft and vibrant expression, with tart red fruits giving way to cedar and spice, along with hints of leather, showing amazingly balanced acids, contrasting minerals, and savory herbs. The finish was long and pure with hints of fine tannin, yet already drinking so well. Incredibly beautiful to taste right now.

May 21, 2016 - Clear with a medium intense red core with a warry thin rim, developing.

On the nose it is clean with medium intense nose with aromas of sweet sour fruit, kirch, morelles, tare, mushroom, anise, leather, truffles, developing.

On the palate its dry, with medium tannins, medium alcohol and body flavour intensity and medium+ acidity, aromas of mrelles, kirch, leather, truffles, mushrooms, maybe even some forest floor. Long finish

Very well structured and very complex, lacks a bit concentration to be great, long elegant finish, not to intense but very nuanced, outstanding quality 93p
