Community Tasting Notes 20

June 30, 2018 - At tasting. Brief note. Nose shows sweet hickory smoked brisket that is nearly finished on the smoker. Palate shows the same sweet beefy flesh and unctuous smoke, toasted black pepper, and spicy red fruits. This has a ton of structure and still need some time unlike the '02 which was at peak. Finish was long and tense with the pepper and smoked meat notes complimenting the red fruits. Very nice.

November 25, 2016 - Improved dramatically with 3-4 hours of air. Fairly old world in style, albeit with nice dark chewy fruit.

Drink up, this is on the decline.

September 19, 2016 - Dark red color, nearly opaque. Aromas of licorice, cherry, and plum. Palate has blackberry, plum, and licorice with a bit of meatiness that emerges on the medium-long finish. Still youthful, but integrated nicely and would likely benefit from decanting. Drink or hold.

July 20, 2015 - Dark purple-red color. Aromas of plum, blueberry, blackberry, some meat, and smoke. Palate is initially black-fruited in character with blackberry and plum dominating. Some pepper, vanilla, smoke, and blueberry notes emerge with time in the glass. More open on the second day. Plenty of gas left in the tank for this one to develop aged nuance. Drink or hold.
