July 24, 2017 - dark berries, tart, simpler, fairy good at such price.
April 16, 2017 - Enjoyed even after older .....
August 17, 2016 - Not decanted, consumed over 2-3 hours. Seems to be some bottle variation here, as this bottle was not especially reminiscent of our last two - no signs of oxidation here, mixed berry rather than cherry fruit, touches of mint/menthol and something savory which I really enjoyed. We have a couple more of these coming, and I hope they show like this one did.
July 22, 2016 - Not decanted, consumed over ~1 1/2 hours. Something seemed just a touch off here...oxidation? bottle variation? a touch of heat damage? Whatever it was, this remained an enjoyable-enough bottle, with roasty red fruit, some pleasant earthiness, and enough acidity to not fall flat. Probably best over the next couple of years.
April 14, 2016 - One glass consumed over ~30 minutes from a bottle opened the previous evening. This seems a little riper than the 2011, but the black cherry fruit has an edge of tart acidity and there are darker notes of chocolate and something like salted black licorice adding some interest. Still a fine deal at <$10, but this does have more of a "generic red wine" character than the 2011 did.
February 22, 2016 - Mid-dark garnet; tar nose; prunes; old world nose; mid-big body; grapey; thick. hot finish. Decent fruit but clumsy.
October 16, 2015 - Nice red fruit with a medium finish. Excellent QPR.
September 20, 2015 - great thing about this no sryrup or overt sweetness, a winner at this price
August 6, 2015 - becoming quite dry throughout dusty on the finish now
