  July 12, 2016 - First time w/ this variety. Transparent garnet in color. Pretty tight on the nose, with some cherry cough drop, licorice, and spice coming through. Light to medium body, medium(+) acid, medium finish, and lightly grippy tannins post meal (no worries w/ a plate of pasta w/ red sauce), with flavors of cherry, orange peel, iodine, and dry leaves. Maybe not a major standout, but a nice Italian food wine that I guess I'd describe as somewhere between a nerello and a nero, and if I had any more, I'd probably rest them a few years to see what happens.

  for $11 on sale i can't complain but this wasn't really my style. the barrique influence overpowered any varietal character.
  
  My first full bottle Gagioppo but i couldn't get much of a sense of the grape.
  medium body, nice fresh acid, and a some tannic grip despite the juicy entry.
  
  the nose and palate are dominated by toasty French oak. Ripe cherry fruit with a bit of cola, green herb, and saline minerality but the bready oak masks any real nuance.
  
  that being said, the wine shows good ripeness and nice acidity, but there was nothing unique here for me. Not unpleasant but uninteresting.

  February 2, 2016 - Tres surpris nez intense la mure et la cardamone, en boUche un peu de tabac ,cerises un peu sures,tannins delicats acidité balancée longueur correct.une petite amertume le fun en finalee..pour 15$ tout un aubaine!!

  July 18, 2015 - Strange situation with this one. Two people had a few sips each on PnP. Then the bottle was left open for an hour or so. Returning, it had fairly strong damp basement odors typical of corked wine. It's strange, because cork taint is usually obvious on PnP. Anyway, I can't rate this.
