February 9, 2019 - Great smokey base to complement to dark blackberry and licorice notes. Olive tapenade on the finish give a saline quality to this rich, complex wine.

January 29, 2019 - This was difficult to drink. Lacked the tannic or acidic structure to hold the fruit together.

October 27, 2018 - Matter of taste (London): Pepper, spices, with a whiff of burnt tyres or rather smoke (?) and black Nyons olives. Great fruit, soft in the mouth, medicinal hints and a clear note of spearmint. Acidity on the low side so for me the perfection is missing. Still a great wine.

May 30, 2018 - I wanted a syrah. This was good. I'm struck by how similar it is to the Cayuse syrahs. I know Christophe consulted here and all but there's really little difference except Reynvaan has raised prices far above Cayuse these days.
Lots of olive, beef blood and herbs. Little fruit, though my 6 year old smelled it and called it sweet smelling.
    Nice wine. I enjoyed it.

March 25, 2018 - This bottle was outstanding. Our previous bottles had been quite disappointing, and this bottle confirmed my suspicion that the previous bottles had been flawed. This one more resembled the famed Stonessence wine of previous reviews.

We tasted this without a decant. Right out of the bottle, the wine gave intense aromas of boxwood and coffee. These appeared on the palate, along with smoky flavors, beef blood, meat, iron, and black olive. The finish was long and beguiling. There was very little fruit, but I didn't care, as the other flavors were so intense and harmonious. Drinking this was like drinking a smoked duck. This was a fine interpretation of Syrah, showing its possibilities.
