December 25, 2022 - Top nose perfumed with to ask for, colour light but not brown at all. Taken just at top I guess. Taste is good, medium concentration, but not as complex as the nose.

February 16, 2022 - Clear medium red. Lots of red fruit and tar, of course there is some oak but the fruit and tar have pushed it to the background. Less modern than the 89 drank alongside.

At this point this is very nice but I predict when the fruit passes the oak will live on. So drink up.

November 13, 2021 - The Pio Cesare Barolo Ornato 1996, fabulous bouquet right from opening, great colour vibrant burgundy with little to no browning on edge, thick and delicious, dark chocolate, dark cherry, rich and decadent, mulberry, decant for 3 hours minimum.

April 12, 2020 - I think recent tasting scores for this wine are off significantly. Too low. This is drinking beautifully. Wonderful perfume with smooth tannins still evident.

September 18, 2018 - Smooth as silk, fully integrated tannins, no rough edges anywhere, soft red fruit, best description of mouthfeel would be 'at peace'.
