August 4, 2023 - Till now the best Cannonau I drank , let say probably except the Riserva Franzisca from Montisci. Fruity, spices , licorice, earth and meat. Very complex. High alcohol level but while you are drinking you don’t feel it. On the palate as on the nose , complex , fresh acidity and long finish

September 12, 2019 - Very earthy, savory quality. Cut wild grass in the autumn/mulch, strong herbal notes, game meat, licorice, radishes, with a little heat on the finish (15.5%). My wife said “fish food” on the nose, and I agree (that doesn’t sound good, but somehow it was). I really liked this, and would like to revisit.

October 8, 2018 - What a treat this wine is. Opaque with an inch pour, that shows its 8 year old age with a broad lighter band around the outer edge. Smooth, drying, and well integrated in the mouth. Rich but well structured with no jammy sweet taste. No noticeable alcoholic heat despite having an alcohol level of 15.5%. Sardinia makes many Grenache wines at all price levels, but this stands head and shoulders above them in quality, almost a Bordeaux lover's Grenache.

August 20, 2016 - The nose was dark and burly, almost animal in nature, displaying intense, ripe dark fruits, plum, crushed flowers, moist soil and sweet herbs. On the palate, I found silky textures with a mix of ripe cherry and strawberry fruits, dark chocolate, brown spice and grippy tannin. The finish was dark with bitter herbs and black fruit. More acidity would be a big help here, as the wine lacks the energy necessary to hold up to it’s overripe nature.

Looking back at my first note on this wine, I have to wonder if it was just a poor bottle or showing. That said, I ask the presenter if this bottle was a representation of his expectations, and he agreed that it was.
