December 21, 2023 - Bone dry mouthfeel and very dark and almost black in the glass. Mild sweetness and leather on the nose. Good balance with some spice as well. Notes of licorice and mild berry flavors.

June 10, 2018 - Dare I say this wine has improved since the last bottle? This was our 4th bottle over as many years, and it seems to keep improving. Very balance, smooth and delicious. Opens up after about 90 minutes to plums, dark cherries, tobacco, leather and dust. Pyramid-heavy blend (for those of you Hawk-aholics out there), so it has that deep, dark, intense fruit powering this vintage. Just a great expression of Cabernet. Can't wait to try it again next year. Oh, and eat something with this wine. Doesn't matter what. Just open this up, fill your plate and enjoy.

August 2, 2017 - We didn't decant this wine tonight and loved it right from the bottle. This Cabernet is nicely balanced, with flavors of dark fruits and a little clove. Wish I had more...

March 26, 2016 - opened and drank with an Italian dinner. Great, great wine. Opened nicely in the glass over an hour. Nose of tobacco, smoke, spice box and dark fruit. Suptle mouth feel. Smooth rolling across the palate. Dark cherry, plum, and cassis with a wonderful finish. Far too often I taste wine without the benefit of food (my bad, I know). This wine seemed to make everything taste better, including some pickled chili peppers. Made to express itself along other flavors - flinty, earthy and expressive. Please, please let this cab shine by enjoying it with a meal. Great to drink now, and should hold for some time to come, but honestly, this may be peaking. I had a 2009 Napa Cabernet recently that was also impressive. This could be the time for the '09s.

November 27, 2015 - The blend of the 2009 Alexander Valley Cabernet is 45% Pyramid, 30% Stone, and 25% Red Winery. It is 100% Cabernet Sauvignon. As 1 taste it now, it comes across as a combination of dark fruit and nice, firm tannin and acid. That dark fruit is just starting to take on the secondary flavor and character that comes with age: a little tobacco, a little leather. Will improve for the next 5 years.

November 21, 2013 - Big, bold cab with a great nose and long smooth finish. Notes of current, tobacco and blackberry. This is a wine to be sipped and savored. Probably a year too young at this point.
