November 1, 2022 - Nose was red fruits (cherry) with savory elements and a bit of prune. The palate was similar. The tannins remain pretty evident but are mellow and provide very nice texture. The acidity compliments well the tannins and supports a good profile. The fruit, on the other hand, while it was clear and savory contained a bit of portish prunes. Hopefully an issue with this bottle as it was an otherwise nice wine.

June 6, 2020 - The last bottle. Much better than either of the two preceding ones. Decanted for 2 hours and the wine opened up nicely and expressed the subtle fruit flavors, warm mouth feel and long finish that one expects of wines from this region.

April 15, 2020 - I agree with the last note posted. This is starting to fade. Glad this is my last bottle. Now it seems pretty extracted and starting to show signs of forest floor and bit a hint of pruney oxidation. The previous bottle of this a year or so ago showed much better. If you have them, it is time to drink them or you may be pouring them down the sink.

April 8, 2020 - A bit passed peak. But after a couple of hours it seemed to achieve a reasonably nice balance. Lots of sediment. Wish I had decanted.

February 26, 2020 - Two bottles I’ve opened in the past month have been way past peak. I have two more left and will open them soon in the hope that there is still something left.

September 24, 2019 - Medium ruby with a garnet edge

Intense nose of red fruits, stewed strawberries, with flint, charcoal and forest floor. A few minutes of air brings beautiful floral notes.

Palate is a beautifully balanced Nebbiolo, with rounded red fruits and a slightly earthy quality. Tannins and acid announce their presence immediately, but settle seamlessly. Alcohol nicely integrated as well. This could go several more years, but is drinking beautifully now. Quite a lot of sediment requires a careful decant.

November 27, 2018 - This is a big, burly wine. Very earthy with a hint of Brett. Complex, interesting and long.

February 2, 2018 - Aromatic wine with dark red fruits, spice box and dusty room predominating. The palate is layered and balanced with bright red fruits running along side the darker fruits. No sherry this time, first bottle probably an outlier.

February 12, 2017 - I made the mistake of coravining this as I didn't realized this had already dropped tons of fine sediment -- which was of course fully stirred into the wine. My bad. Surprisingly developed profile, this essentially tastes like mature nebbiolo. But hard to assess fairly due to the heavy sediment.
