Community Tasting Notes 5

July 27, 2014 - - Yellow gold color with medium forming legs and has flavours of apple and orange blossom with a medium/full body with a medium finish - Very clean. Crisp. Continued to develop in the glass. Found an initial metallic that later disappeared. A lot of talent going into these bottles.

May 26, 2014 - Opened last night, kept under cork without decant. Has a proper chill for my note. Never had this wine before, no experience with the varietal. Has the texture of of a rhone white, kind of waxy and oily. Flavors remind me similar, of persistent, spicy acidity, some fennel, yellow apple, lemon and some bitter mandarin orange. If served blind, I'd guess that same rhone white. The finish here hangs on, that oily texture and bitter seed note has good length. Enjoyable.

January 24, 2014 - Not my first ever bottle of Cortese, but I really cannot recall the last one. Initially it showed a lot of pear fruit, and even seemed a little heavy on the palate. After an hour that all changed. The fruit got lighter, and pleasing fresh herb note showed up, and a spicy element came in on the finish. It became a very complete wine. I really do not know how or why this wine works so well, given the rarity of New World Cortese, but it does work. Excellent effort from Idlewild.

December 3, 2013 - I was going to wait awhile to open my one other bottle, but is enjoyed the first bottle so much, I just had to open it. Same notes as before. Very enjoyable bottle of wine!

October 25, 2013 - My first ever Cortese. Light gold in color. Beautiful aroma of apples, but the best thing about this wine is the wonderful mouthfeel-it is luscious! Long finish and there are lots of flavors in this wine. Sam & Jessica are doing it right - I have thoroughly enjoyed everyone of their wines!
