Community Tasting Notes 5

July 11, 2018 - I have not much experience in Vin Jaune but have drunk a lot of various sherries. This was like popping an over-the-hill Fino sherry. The color is deep yellow, clearly deeper and darker than in Finos. The nose was a bit moldy with strong oxidative notes, not much fruit. Medium bodied, dry, strong oxidative "sherry" flavors and some moldy notes, perhaps a hint of citrus. It didn't taste fresh or clean because of the moldy aspect. Frankly, why would you buy this if you can have a similar (fresh) sherry for a fraction of the price?

March 3, 2017 - Broderen ruter fram fra kjelleren. Fyldig Eple, gulplomme, mose, litt svak syre, litt hjortetakksalt.

September 12, 2015 - Light golden. A slight medicinal or even metalic taste intruded, and for us it lacked richness; it was not unpleasant, but it did not leave us wanting this over the 07, which we quite preferred.

September 5, 2015 - A bit aldehyde, sherry flor note with a bit of nutty Chard-like fruit backing it up. Not as rich, slick, and complex and thrilling as the 2002 and 2003. don't know if time will make it better or if it's the vintage, but wasn't as impressed as I've been in the past with these wines.

September 13, 2013 - Jura, Puligny Montrachet and Champagne; 9/8/2013-9/20/2013: Mouldy cellar, fresh button mushroom and slightly mouldy dried mushroom scent. Thin, acidic; frankly, this tastes unpleasantly impure. Brand new, screaming baby-like VJ . 14% alc. 84P(?)
