February 26, 2022 - Typische mineralische Pettenthal-Charakteristik.
September 16, 2020 - Amazing Riesling, very balanced ... drink now, it won‘t be better.
May 17, 2020 - Pnp, a lot of diesel and petrol at first,
blows off easily with only ten minutes of aeration,
dense and creamy mouthfeel, spice and stonefruit, great Riesling flow over the midpalate, this is a mature bottle but with enough energy for further cellaring, long and convincing, ***(+- ?)
August 24, 2019 - Keller Pettenthal Großes Gewächs - full vertical tasting (2009-2017) (@Private location): *** view note in context of full tasting ***
Glass: Gabriel Standard
Pale golden color. Closed, muted nose. On the palate typical herbs, zests and orange notes. More lean and precise then 2009-2011. Quite juicy. Medium length. Give it 2-3+ years to fully develop. 91-92+
July 31, 2019 - Nice nose, nothing spectacular, but nicely aromatic and pleasant. Smooth taste and good balance. Medium acidity and low bitterness in finish.
So much better that the last time I tasted this back in 2014.
Drank a single glass from this bottle 5 years ago using my coravin. Today I decided to finish it off. The coravin delivers as promised - the wine is perfectly preserved and shows much improvement since last tasted. Back then I scored it 82 pts. Today I give it 88+.
April 24, 2019 - A Too short Visit to Wine and Tapas Paradise; 4/24/2019-4/28/2019 (Iberia Business Class, Cuenllas, La MAMA, La Tasqueria, Palo Cortado, Iberia Business Lounge Madrid): The most mature GG of this evening, clearly fresh, some petrol and green fruit such as apples and some white pears, harmonic with a good flow and persistence on the midpalate, in really good condition now, ending long+ with some delicious dried yellow fruit, but will evolve, **(**)
April 19, 2019 - What to do with this sunny afternoon and evening on the terraces?
Pnp a fine likely mature GG! This bottle is showing all you expect from a GG representing the soil of the "roter Hang" red slope at Nierstein, very tight and dense still, showing great chalky minerality, opens up with some dried fruit, apricote and mango, really rich on the midpalate, taut and generous, ending long with some fine supporting acid, can be enjoyed from now on with some decent decant, but will benefit from some 3- 5(+?) years in your cellar, ***(*- *?), 91, 92(+?) potential
March 4, 2017 - I tried it in several Zalto glasses, and the best was actually the Zalto Burgundy, which surprised me , in the Zalto white wine glass the wine simply died out.
In the Burgundy there was notes of, orange zest, banana , bitter lemon that was both on the palate and on the nose.
May 7, 2016 - Regular dinner group (@ EM): Beautiful soft yellow fruit in the bouquet like mango and peach. A touch of petrol as well. On the palate white and yellow fruits, minerals, a touch of petrol again, nicely dry and some bitterness in the finish. A beautiful and clean wine and I think it will improve over the next 6+ years. So from 2022 onwards. 91+ for tonight.
