December 3, 2023 - Little bit of animal, little bit of barnyard on the nose. Had some dark red fruits that are overlaying mineralogy. Palate is very nice and actually pretty integrated right now. I think there’s some acidity in the structure here that gives it a little bit brightness. Little bit of dried fruit note as well. This is in a great place, nice long finish, a bit drying with structure there. right now it is a nice long finish little bit of dry and structure up on that as well. I think in terms of Syrah, this is very pure and very good. Probably 95.

August 11, 2023 - Gorgeous deep ruby-garnet color with zero color degradation. Slate, clay, red flowers, and a strong mustiness on the nose. Black raspberry notes with strong rose petals, but it’s a bit flat. A touch of black licorice and boysenberry on the finish. It doesn’t feel like this is a temporary slump.

January 9, 2023 - 2 hour decant was helpful and more would help. A well balanced, medium bodied, fruit forward wine that is in its prime. This should drink well for another 3-5 years but doesn’t have the backbone for extended cellaring.

November 14, 2022 - Beautiful medium ruby color. Mulberries and raspberry cream on the nose. Mixed red and black berries with funk and a touch of cream. Tasty.

August 3, 2022 - Dark, cloudy ruby color. Black raspberries, fruit punch, and citric acid on the nose. Sweet blackberries on the front palate followed by red plums and a touch of kefir lime, with a velvety mouthfeel balanced by strong acids. A slightly under-sweetened fruit punch note accompanies blackberry and bramble notes throughout the very lengthy finish. Really, really delicious wine that reminds me why I love Northern Rhône Syrah so much.

April 20, 2022 - Opened 3h before tasting, didn’t decant, just poured a little glass.
Deep nose, smoked bacon notes, dark fruit. Palate super intense, it covers everything and tickles the sheeks before going towards a very long and super balanced finish. Superb. Very enjoyable now, generally Chapoutier ageing is much more approchable young than let say Guigal. Here what makes the wine is clearly the old vines.

March 12, 2021 - Beaucoup trop jeune encore. Très tannique. Attendre.

February 14, 2021 - Excellently matured Syrah. Barnyard and blood on the nose on opening which gave way to nice bright fruity notes as well with air. Nice persistent aftertaste with smooth dissolved tannins and very nicely balance. Simply exquisite.

January 9, 2021 - Sweet, black cherry fruit with notes of grass, forest floor and lavender. After a decant of two hours (a must) this wine becomes beautifully integrated, complex and smooth. There are hints of grass on the finish that adds more complexity to this Syrah. While delicious now, this is likely to get even better over time.
