Community Tasting Notes 5

  • For The Love of Loosen Likes this wine: 92 points

May 27, 2022 - Tannins still somewhat firm on opening, supported by good acidity. More almond than cashew, more white peach than pink grapefruit. Mealy, full bodied even, with great length and mouth filling persistence. 13% ABV. Singing.

December 25, 2020 - OK but somewhat lacking that extra X factor. Maybe in a dumb phase?

October 13, 2020 - A little flat. Probably left it too Long.

August 20, 2017 - Lemon water, arrowroot biscuit, brioche. Light body, well judged oak with fine acidity and seemingly no trace of malo. Not quite ready to drink though. Next bottle in 2020.

September 21, 2013 - Tyrrell's New Release Tasting (Darling Harbour, Sydney): {screwcap, 13%, A$38} There were 8 barriques made of this; a mixture of 1 and 2-year old barrels, of the oldest chardonnay fruit in the country. It has a youthful nose of lemonbutter and sandalwood; quite enchanting. The palate has spicy, creamy, floral flavours, with touches of peach and melon. There’s not a lot of oak influence on the palate; it all seems to hang on a spine of medium-weight crisp acid. No more than medium-bodied, and with finely judged alcohol, it’s spectacularly even along the tongue, with a medium-long finish. Just sensational; far more enjoyable than Vat 47 to drink now; perhaps won’t have the same longevity but when it tastes this good now that’s hardly a drawback.
