September 22, 2019 - Rather light and getting a little tired. It did not feel vibrant and fruity and I think it would have been better consumed a couple of years ago to garner its best flavors.

May 26, 2019 - As pointed out in my 2016 note, this wine is far better with both decanting and food than without, hearty food seems to really enhance this wine. Starting to show some very early signs of bricking, still a medium ruby color. Lots of savory, mature, and complex aromatics and flavors showing ground black pepper, dried jalapeƱo pepper, smokey blackberry, dried red licorice, stewed cherry, olive tapenade, dried and crushed mixed herbs and a nice streak of greeness. Medium acidity support a medium finish. Might cellar for another one to two years, but I would enjoy within the next year.

April 24, 2019 - Last bottle of a case. Wood smoke, a little earthy funk, good still, but for my money not drinking as well as it did a couple of years ago. Nothing wrong with it, but I think the sweet spot for drinking this has passed, which at the price is to be expected I think. I have bought in subsequent vintages and will buy again in the future. High quality at a fair cost.

February 18, 2019 - Finally. Just let it be for 48 hours, then it was a real treat. If you had the patience to hold on to a few, push the drinking window out a few years.
