January 28, 2023 - No formal notes taken, however my impression of this 2003 GPD was that it did not seem at all like the product of a heatwave vintage. Beautifully balanced and still with nice structure, if blind tasting I would have guessed this to be a 2005. ABV of 13%, and the wine tasted close to this ABV. [SL]

August 17, 2021 - This wine just gets better and better. Needs some air time in order to develop its true personality.

May 7, 2021 - Placed upright in the cellar for 48 hours prior to opening. Opened at about 10AM and poured a small glass to give the bottle some air. Let the wine breathe for several hours prior to drinking. In the glass, the wine is medium garnet with signs of bricking at the rim. On the nose, cedar box, mushroom/forest floor, cassis (kind of reminds me of the smell from a freshly opened Tiptree black currant jam - not to say that the wine is jammy...just a whiff of that comes through in the wine), blackberries. Basically, some darker fruits with tertiary development. On the palate, more of the same. Still plenty of fruit left. Tannins are mostly integrated at this point, medium plus acidity, medium body, with good length. Not overly complex but just a good mature bordeaux.
Sidenote: this is exactly what I want in an older bordeaux. Not over the top, just a very good, lower alcohol, typical Pauillac. Loved it and glad I have more. This is drinking really well right now, at least for my palate. Is this the best wine I've ever had? Certainly not...but it is perfect for what it is.
