April 6, 2019 - Drinking really well and has a long life ahead. Can’t wait to try more.

March 30, 2019 - Lovely perfume. Quite aromatic. Red berries, cherry, dark fruits, some leather on the finish. A great pairing with our slow-roasted, herbal duck. The wine put on weight after 2 hours open, suggesting a longer decant or more air time would have improved it. Still not quite up to the 2001 at this time but promising.

March 19, 2019 - Monthly Tuesday group "The Dead Sparrow" #037: Bordeaux 2003, 2004 and 2006 (By me): In the bouquet sweet spices, smoke, cherries, some pleasant barnyard, earth and vanilla. On the palate dark berries and chocolate, sweet spices, some red berries, beautifully dosed oak and acidity and round tannin. Firm amount of sweetness. Beautiful wine.

March 19, 2019 - Fully developed, served blind, I thought the wine was from 1990. While it is not a wine I would keep for a long-term hold, there was a lot to like here. Medium-bodied, lush, soft and silky, the fruit was ripe, sweet and juicy. There was no sensation of jam. The wine was clean and aromatically interesting. However, I would not hope for further development.

March 2, 2019 - Started drinking after 2+ hr decant, tremendous difference from 1st sip upon opening to enjoying over next couple hrs, really showed well-integrated layers of dark berry fruit, cigar box, med. herbs, and espresso on a silky frame of soft tannins, nice med/long finish, and plenty of acid heft to pair up with medallions of beef oscar. Seems great life in this still, can see it sailing for another 3 - 5 yrs from this stage. High QPR from futures buy.

(Chateau Giscours Margaux) A lovely nose here, demonstrating plenty of pure Margaux perfume, remarkable regarding the heat of the vintage. It has a deep, rich, gravelly character that I find immensely appealing. Full and textured on the palate, but with a reserved feel, lovely style though, and a rather racy presence on the palate. The tannins come through on the finish, but overall I find this wines youthful exuberance and structure to have great appeal. And it has typicité, and a good length, too. There's lots here to stand up to the tannins. Really very good indeed.

(Château Giscours) Dark black red color; light coffee, caramel nose; nice, elegant fruit and oak balance with caramel edges; medium finish (should be very nice in 5-plus years)

(Chateau Giscours Margaux) Lovely, lifted and expressive, mineral-tinged fruit here. A delightful impact. Lovely, rounded structure on the palate, which shows a creamy style with nicely knitted tannins, and elegant presence and good balance. Firm acidity and overall very good structure. A success.
