December 28, 2015 - At our house, dinner with Jonathan and Marissa. My "famous" meatballs, needed wines to stand up to the spices. Drank this next to a 97 Masi Amarone. Decanted for close to 3 hours, drank over 90 minutes.

Deep inky purple color. Dark fruits, leather, tobacco, tar on the nose. Palate was a rich dark fruit/plum on front palate, spices, figs, olives. Classic Amarone profile without being too hot (despite 15% ABV) or "raisiny"/port. Dense mouthfeel, age has mellowed the wine into a restrained spot

Seems like it should hold at this level but dont think it will improve much. The decant softened it up a bit from when it was first opened. Really great Amarone as it approaches 20 years - still has a good arc in front of it

    August 4, 2013 - From a magnum decanted for 4.5 hours.
Nose of sweet cooked plum and smokiness. Mouth filling with a wonderful mellow confection of dark summer pudding fruits, truffle and earthiness - both racy and dense.
At its peak with perhaps 2 years at this level ahead of it. Very fine. Sadly a singleton.

March 19, 2012 - blackish purple, tar and leather nose, dried plum palate witout the usual raisiny pruny Amarone style- a pleasure ,and will reserve the next bottle for about 4 years
