January 1, 2023 - French style
April 26, 2020 - Nose: tart black fruit, chalk notes, more fleshy fruit than tannin without quite getting to a density I'd call jammy. Bit of spice develops while sipping.
Palate: lightly chalky black fruit with thoroughly integrated tannin. Lingers nicely, a bit crisp, not particularly tart and has the slightest hint of spice on the edge - it has lost some of that Syrah pepper, although it has gained balance with age. Very smooth finish with a mild lingering mouthfeel.
Easy to sip despite the density, should tolerate a wide variety of food.
With eggplant-beef lasagna, tannin is behaved but loses a bit of fruit; against straight tomato and cheese, it becomes a bit thin but is actually better balanced.
I think the drinking window is a bit later than the community consensus of 2015-2017, but it's closing now in 2020.
October 17, 2019 - A little intense to drink by itself, needs some food to accompany. Had a good amount of sediment at the bottom, but wine was just fine.
August 28, 2019 - Nice easy going. Nothing special but great bargain for the price
August 21, 2019 - Smooth, rich, dense. Long finish. Ripe cherry.
July 10, 2019 - Savoury, Provençal herb, violets, clay, and blueberry nose. Strong flavours; ripe and juicy palate with a perfect acid balance that defies the 15% alcohol. Finely crafted, long finishing.
4.5/5
December 28, 2018 - Easy to drink, seems like a good price performer
November 27, 2018 - N: Powered ginger, oak, stewed fruits, wisps of smoke
P: Touch of dark fruits, oak
F: Sweet, slightly tannic, oak
This was dangerously quaffable wine. I liked it!
September 12, 2018 - Rich complex balanced, drinking well day 2.
June 23, 2018 - Very nice..
