December 27, 2022 - Come softly to me.
4 hours in, this is opening up as a finely crafted old vine Syrah. Earthy pronounced nose of violet. Aged flavors of dark plums, blood, tar, licorice and the herb horehound. Located in a warm site on the Ardèche western side of the Rhône & leaning more Northern than Southern in style/expression. Makes my day.

January 11, 2021 - Better now than it was on release, and in a fresher shape than a recent 2010 Brezeme VV too. It's holding on to the piercingly ripe, wild berry fruit that young Texier features so vividly and just starting to pick up some succulent cured-meat elements.

September 16, 2019 - Oops. Given my success with the 2011 Brézème Pergaud recently I thought the more solar vintage form the earlier maturing St.J-St.A site would be open for business. Not really. The pedigree and depth of the wine is apparent, but the structure dominates today and not even a ton of coaxing will bring it fully out. That being ssaid, it was still enjoyable and if I didn't know what more ready bottles of this tasted like I would have been happy. I don't think it's that far, maybe 2-3 years before I should dip back in but it looks like I've been drinking one a year, so that'll probably happen.

January 20, 2019 - Lovely, almost “Burgundian-style Cote Rotie” in its deft, well judged, use of Syrah. Gorgeous aromatic nose and a cherry/red fruit palette with perfect acidity and well integrated tannins. My first experience of Texier, courtesy of a generous friend. It won’t be the last. Clearly a wine-maker with fine judgement.

August 8, 2018 - Wow, what a wine! This was actually best on Day 4 (we didn't finish on Day 1 and revisited it then, not in-between). It had started to become very silky, complex and intriguing. Loved it. Always a fan of his wines, but never had this, and came across it on SommSelect. Very reasonable price for the quality.
