Community Tasting Notes 5

December 11, 2016 - I really dig this producer and as we drink more of this winery's craft, I continue to remain impressed. Higher acid style here, with great texture. Peach and nectarine notes (nothing demi here by the way, this is dialed in sec in style, IMO). Structured finish with terrific tension and balance. Lovely.

December 11, 2016 - Book Club - Grand Finale: Medium plus depth of color, yellow pushing gold. There's an interesting additional note on the nose. Taste like classic Chenin with lemon and pith. High acid, razor edge. Terrific complexity. I've had numerous ones from this producer, does this guy make a bad wine? I don't think so.

February 21, 2014 - Light yellow. Fabulous Chenin texture, tooth rattling acidity, lemon fruit. This is even too austere for me, at least at this early juncture.

November 2, 2013 - Blind tasting. Nose closed, with a bit of honey and ginger.Mouth vivid, lacking the fullness of the previous vintage. Bad match with lomp roe toast. I missed it. I have to re taste it.

October 18, 2013 - Two Loire Standouts-Guiberteau and Dagueneau (Dig Wines, San Francisco): Light yellow. This sucks you right in with its broad, glossy Chenin entry. It seems pretty inviting and friendly, and then all of a sudden, bam! The mid-palate and finish are all acidity and soil, and it leaves the mouth parched with its ending austerity. Very Savennieres-like. Pretty impressive grip and intensity for a basic cuvee, but this is completely disjointed right now.
