October 6, 2019 - Great wine, big and rich but with a wonderful taughtness of both acidity and tannin. Young but has the tertiary notes of Brunello, leather and underbrush. Also a sangiovese spiciness. Delicious, mouth coating, long and young. I'm thinking prime time in 5 years.

November 11, 2018 - Been enjoying Luce since the 2000 vintage. This bottle after a 1.5 hr decant (agree with previous comments that it needs more) had unbelievably pronounced blackberry on the palate. Almost overpowering. Berries of all others were quickly behind it. Although not as full bodied as previous years it was still a great bottle enjoyed with a prime steak. Unfortunately it still needs time and I will let the next one open for several hours before enjoying. I have 2012-2014 in my cooler but it will be some time before they are approachable judging by the 2010. I see new bottles from time to time in wine stores but they simply are not ready for at least 8-10 years in my estimate.

November 12, 2016 - Allowed a long 8 hr decant, which it absolutely needs at this stage as it only started to unwind at the 8hr mark.
Intense aromas show a bounty of scents including blackberry, coconut, dried cherry, vanilla, violets, forrest floor, coffee beans, hibiscus and black tea with notes of iron and salt minerality, red meats, pepper, leather and mushroom.
On the palate you can taste the youth, the muscularity and the specialness of this wine. Everything is there, packed tight; beautiful structure moderate-plus acidity, firm, chewy, full tannins and moderate alcohol. Flavors deliver with great intensity and concentration. blackberry, plum and dried cherry notes are met swiftly with dark roast espresso grounds, dark chocolate, forest floor, black tea, dried hibiscus, char grilled game meats, tobacco, mineral and mushroom lingering through the powerful chewy finish on leathery notes.
Overall needs time or a lot of air (8-12 hrs I'd say is the sweet spot at this point) but a potential classic in the making from an amazing producer and vintage

January 17, 2016 - Took an hour but worth the wait. A great wine.

November 2, 2015 - Sampled from two separate bottles. To me both came across either highly overripe or oxidized with a nose of port, prunes and raisins.
