May 10, 2015 - This is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Petit Verdot, Merlot and Cabernet Franc. I am not completely sure if all of these varietals are estate sourced but I have had barrel samples of Cooper's Petit Verdot and it was impressive. Garnet in color, nose of dark fruit, coffee and a little oak; palate starts with red fruit and evolves steadily through layers of moderate acidity, darker fruit and then firm mocha notes, a touch of cinnamon spice and fine integrated tannins and oak. Moderate length. Impression was steady over three days. You can locate the PV as the palate evolves. I found myself wishing for a little more body. On the scale of Virginia red wines this is very good and can stand on its own right.
