Community Tasting Notes 3

September 21, 2017 - Not a terribly tannic wine…more soft fruit with a slight bit of earth. It is pretty easy-drinking. If you like a big bold cab with a lot of tannins, this is probably not the wine for you. This was not my favorite cab ever, but for a 2011 we found it to be fairly enjoyable (though not worth the price). I doubt it will age well past a few more years and if I had more, I would drink it now.

August 9, 2016 - Well, this appears to be past its prime drinking window. Notes consistent with last bottle, whose score reflected a hope for improvement. Alas, this hope, like the wine, has faded. The nose is better than the taste. This is very light now, almost to where it doesn't taste like a Cali Cabernet. It lacks the body, structure and depth. In fact, there is little to no structure. Tannin nearly absent as though in a food requiring Pinot. But this is a Barnett Cabernet. It's not offensive, it's just shallow and uninteresting. Not much fruit. My wife called it sour. Not sure what I'm going to do with my 4 remaining bottles. Shame.

December 5, 2015 - Decanted for an hour before drinking, drank over two days. Bright red fruit on the nose, only light to medium tannins on both days, which is a surprise to me. This was a much bigger wine on previous bottles. Sick period maybe? Lacking depth and structure I expect from a Barnett cabernet. Strange, because it WAS there. Going to revisit in 6 months.
