September 30, 2023 - Two years later, this is doing very well indeed. Perhaps the vintage character is starting to show - so a little leaner than the last bottle - but plenty of fruit and zest.

June 4, 2021 - Ripe aromas of blackberry and blackcurrant, with some herbs and a hint of spice, then a mouthful of black cherry and blackcurrant, very fresh and incisive, before a rich seam of dark raspberry, which fills the palate effortlessly, and a very long finish combining all three flavours, along with the classic chalkiness of Chinon. Over time, there are notes of blueberry too, but what is striking is the elegance and balance. It is still quite primary and a little grippy - so although delicious now, it will be even better in another three or four years. Not a hint of brett or green, nor any obtrusive oak.

There is a definite step forward here compared to older vintages, which were a little oaky and perhaps too concentrated. It is more streamlined, more "classy", better judged.

For non-Loire geeks, this is a good place to start for fans of Pauillac or Pomerol, since there are echos of both. It is a little less "noble" than the Joguets, a little less of a culture shock than Roches Neuves, a riper feel than each of them, but without the excess of some Couly-Dutheil vintages. This is definitely not a fruit bomb. Of course what helps is the 13°.

July 14, 2020 - Slow oxed for three hours. Attractive aromas of black cherry and herbs arise from the glass. The wine is packed with flavors of black cherry, black currant, herbs and a little smoked meats. Medium bodied, well balanced but showing a lot of juicy stuffing this appears to have a long life ahead of it and it will be interesting to see how this evolves.

September 15, 2017 - M'a semblé encore plus sur les poivrons au nez et en bouche, ça prend trop de place je trouve...austère, rustique, assez tannique aussi et asséchant en finale.
Ordinaire, vraiment pas mon style de vin!
