Community Tasting Notes 3

March 5, 2022 - This was excellent if too young. My wife requested an Amoureuses last night and I acquiesced. I had a feeling this would be early and it certainly was, but that didn't necessarily decrease my enjoyment of it. The nose started out a bit heavy with oak; sweet spice and almost incense like, then slowly the rich and ripe red berry fruits came in mingling with the perfume and the oak faded; floral notes and a hint of mineral, maybe a hint of blood orange. The fruit was still super primary and fresh. The depth and intensity on the palate is first rate. Despite the intensity and concentration it still feels light on its feet and elegant. Better balanced than many 2012s I've had and really overall an exquisite wine that will be singing for another 10-15 years easily. If you broach it now a decant will probably help, but I anticipate it will be better in 5 years. Wish these weren't so pricey these days...

June 27, 2018 - Wines at Smaller Meals and Between Meals; 6/24/2018-7/5/2018 (Cote d'Or): Small glass, brief note. All red fruit that was slightly closed at first, so we let it sit on the table for a while. Bright red fruit with savory Asian five spice an hour later with plenty of red cherry aromas. Similar flavors, but still rather backward on palate, particularly the finish. Very good 92+ point potential.

November 6, 2015 - My first Faiveley Amoureuses, and it was a treat. Really pretty nose that tells you right away you're in Chambolle. All flowers and sweet and bright red fruit. Initially this had a darker-fruited palate but with time the sweet took on a sweeter, redder character. Really tasty stuff!
