December 10, 2023 - Not sure. Everyone agreed this needed to open up and develop. I think all the bits are there but at the moment mineral and tannin dominate to an extent that means other elements ( from nose to after taste) are dominated into apparent non-existence. Will try again end 2025.
March 21, 2023 - Beautiful bouquet with minerals and metal impressions as well as red and dark berries and herbs and spices. Same on the palate, beautiful and juicy acidity, tannin with a lovely bite, a slight touch of sweetness and a great length. Outstanding wine in its maturity stage and with a future of at least 3+ years.
March 21, 2023 - DDM Proeverij ZAF Shiaz vs oude wereld Syrah; 3/21/2023-3/22/2023: Wat depot , dieprode kleur, flinke tranen. De geur is dik, flink doorstoofd fruit (kers), een beetje boers, wat vlees en een tikje mint.
In de mond zwart fruit, braam, dik, machtig, spierballen, mooie tannines, mooie zuurbalans en een prachtige lengte.
September 26, 2015 - Wow! I didn't know this wine and it surprised me pleasantly.
Already complex on the nose with floral notes of violets, cherries and black pepper. Smooth texture, very well balanced and flavorful.
September 25, 2015 - Celebrating Yiannis Karakassis' Master of Wine Entitlement (Food Mafia Restaurant, Glyfada, Greece): A stunning wine. More on the elegant side. On the nose it is reminiscent of a high end Burgundy rather than a syrah. Floral and complex nose with red cherry and verry fruit, spices and herbs. Medium-bodied, soft and balanced with a long aftertaste.
March 15, 2015 - Doft: Mörk frukt, kryddor, jordgubbar, svaga kaffetoner, rökt korv
Smak: Mörk frukt som domineras av plommon, jordgubbar, inslag av körsbär, lakrits, peppar, lätt rökighet (baconrökigt)
Svalt, elegant, len rund mörk frukt som ackompanjeras av jordgubbar. Bra syra som balanserar upp frukten väl. Lång eftersmak. Ett riktigt, riktigt bra vin som redan nu är välbalanserat och har alla komponenter för att bli helt fantastiskt. Fruktansvärt bra redan nu allt i balans!!
December 6, 2014 - The nose is clean and youthful. It has a pronounced intensity of aromas. I got aromas of violets, fresh cherries and strawberries, forest floor, vanilla(oak), fresh cut herbs, black pepper and wet stones. This nose is crazy delicious.
Dry on the palate with a medium acidity, medium body and tannin. Very well-balanced and smooth. Medium+ intensity of flavors. Flavors of strawberries, violets, nutmeg, dark cherries, black pepper and crushed stones. Very "cool-climate" on the palate.
I had a very hard time to pin-point this wine so I went for high end Cali-Pinot due to the perfume and the strawberry aromas. Some went for high end Côte-Rôtie. Apparently I was very wrong but on the other hand this was a true eye-opener for me because this wine was outstanding.
November 29, 2014 - FW-BYOB-HT-14#4: ¤FW - WOTN for most of tonight's participants! Tons and tons of pepper, meat, sausage, dark fruit, blackberries, a little blackcurrant. A deep and complex nose! Very dry with a medium+ acidity and a medium body. Great length and intensity. Even though it feels young it has impeccable balance and feels extremely well made. Had most of us fooled for a Northern Rhone, Côte-Rôtie.
June 21, 2014 - I was a little bit disappointed, It was a very mineral pencil wine more french syrah than australian shiraz. That was not the problem. It was maybe closed. Very elegant witha masculin body. Getting better with air, not decanted. Probably in the future better. Lost against La Nieta 2004
