December 20, 2021 - I decanted this for 2 hours, then rebottled it, and served it with dinner an hour later.

Whoo-wee, the acidity is strong in this one...at first, almost puckering. The fruit has receded but the acid has not. We consumed this with ribeye steaks, so it worked, but it definitely would not have been a wine to enjoy on its own.

An hour later, toward the end of the bottle, the acid settled down some, and the charming floral characteristics of the Aglianico grape began to emerge.

This was our last bottle of this wine, but if I had more, I'd wait several years before opening another, to let the acid settle and mellow.

December 11, 2021 - Nose of medium+ intensity featuring black plum, graphite, ash, dried bramble fruit. Medium+ body, with the mostly integrated tannin providing claret like balance and a long, tapered finish. 1-2 hours of decanting found it in peak form, in a plateau of maturity for ~5 years but not a 2-3 decade sort of wine I don't think.

July 26, 2021 - Dark fruit (blueberry, cherry), strong tannins, nice spice. Slightly corked taste. Good acidity. Leather. Slight smoke.
