Community Tasting Notes 101

August 10, 2019 - This chardonnay had significant oak and a bit of sulfur. There was significant acid and not much minerality. It melded nicely after 30-60 minutes. I can dig it, but $44 from the winery seems a bit high.

March 30, 2019 - Easy Bistro Dinner (Easy Bistro): Medium lemon yellow. Subtle nose with notes of lemon, Golden Delicious apple, and pear with hints of honeysuckle. Medium body on the palate with minerality and refreshing acidity. Made from a blend of fruit from multiple SRH vineyards including 40% Rita’s Crown, 30% Bent Rock, 16% Clos Pepe, 10% Zotovich, and 4% Kessler-Haak aged 13 months in 15-20% new French oak. 14.2% ABV.

August 24, 2017 - Chicago Wine Flock...Bill Having Fun with Flights (Wilmette, IL): Tasted double blind. Nicely floral with ripe apple and candied lemon peel. Very good fruit and concentration, moderate finesse and length. Very easy to identify as New World Chardonnay, which made identified the flight's overall theme much easier. While I certainly enjoyed this wine, others liked this more tonight.

June 26, 2017 - A well made chard with minimal barrel characteristics and more reliance on fruit and minerality, with an ocean side ambiance mixed in. Leaner than most of its peers, this is a well expressed, elegant chardonnay experience.
