July 25, 2021 - Deeply flawed, another "shipped directly from Ray," down the drain grand cru, what a waste, even though it was properly stored (at least from when I got it) and then vertically rested for a week before opening, it looked cloudy from the get go, tasted like fermented cabbage, needed to literally wash my mouth out before finding a replacement bottle, and, read my other Maison Ilan reviews, I'm not a Ray hater, but how anyone could sell this wine and sleep at night is beyond me, one Ilan left, can't wait to clear my cellar of these and put the whole "Road to Burgundy" to bed

August 11, 2020 - Notes after 3 hours open. Cork in good shape. A garnet/ruby hue, about 60% opaque and no sediment. Bold nose of toasty oak, cherries, asphalt, black pepper and spice. Medium+ body with a very nice mouthfeel and dark berry compote flavor. Pleasant balance of acidity and lightly gripping tannins. Alcohol not apparent. My one jab would be about the persistence of the fruit. It just doesn't seem to have it at this point and I don't know if it will ever show more length into the finish. Probably best to hold another 3+ years and let it get into fully mature territory .

    June 30, 2018 - nose - quite savory
mouth - complex wine which in some ways very much feels like a natural wine, as if the fermentation is still occurring in bottle. if I had a other bottle of this I'd leave it for 20 years to see what becomes. definite HOLD.

    November 23, 2017 - Nose - celery, strawberry,
Mouth - light bodied, herbal, strawberry and other light red fruit, interesting and refreshing but hard to see this as being grand Cru

July 12, 2017 - Already fruit and super finish. One of the best efforts of this winemaker of dubious reputation
