April 15, 2024 - Still outstanding, though not quite at the level of a few years ago.

    May 21, 2023 - Bottle #2.
On nose and palate: all notes from April hold firm......
Victoria Day weekend Itlalian dinner, antipasto, Veal, risotto.....the citrus, herbal, floral notes intact on a lithe subtle acidity....what's not to like?

April 8, 2023 - At 19 years of age, this 100% Nebbiolo seems to have just begun to relax into mature drinkability.
On nose : subtle, complex, but clearly present notes of eucalyptus, dried rose, dried beef.
On palate: all above flavour notes enhanced, in addition to subtle nuances of Seville orange peel, tart cherry pit, fresh rosemary, and lght cigar tobacco, framed by light, Burgundian acidity.....great balance, bright , translucent red in the glass....great foil for duck, ham, or spicy puttanesca pasta.....can easily age another 5 years or more.

March 23, 2023 - Another remarkable bottle of this Gattinara, even if it isn't at the level of the bottle we opened in 2021. The notes from 2021 still apply, but just not quite as totally sharp.

April 24, 2022 - It's odd to rate this so high, but to consider it a bit of a come down. This bottle isn't quite as stellar as the one we had last year, but is still at an extraordinary level of goodness. My previous notes describe what this bottle is, in terms of the phenomenal nose and palate, but just a little less intense.

April 11, 2022 - Light/medium garnet going orange. dried flowers and dried berries, with rocky, metallic minerality. . delicate, lighter bodied, med resolved tannins. med+ acid that was not screaming. mellow and complex, in a very nice place. stood up well and was multi-dimensional.

    Drank w/ coconut Chicken Adobo.

November 13, 2021 - This is just out of the park. One of the best nebbiolo wines (including great Barolo and Barbaresco wines) I've had in the past 10 years. If my wife was writing this note she would give it a 100. And maybe I'm being a little perverse keeping it below that point since it is so extraordinary, but I'll see what happens with the next bottle. The perfume was intense classic notes of tar, roses, minerality and a bit of citrus along with dark fruits. The palate was savory herbs, mineral, mushroom, significant dark fruit flavor, again a background citrus quality, along with superb balanced acidity, and a tannic backbone that is evident from the get go and just keeps on giving. One of the great QPRs of all time.

November 11, 2021 - Day one, this was very nice but was overwhelmed by the saltiest pizza I’ve ever eaten. On day two, lots of licorice and mushrooms. Not the most profound wine I’ve had recently, but pretty darn tasty and a good value at $25 to boot.

February 14, 2021 - Drinking very nicely. Good acidity, nice level of complexity, long finish.
Balanced fruit. Wish I had more.

February 10, 2021 - Well-balanced body really boosted the flavour of my over-parselyed lamb keftedes. When you want a classy red but still more humble than Barolo, this is what you can go for.
