October 19, 2020 - Good mouth, fine complexity. Long finish, but aftertaste was not 100% to my taste. Should be me.

May 10, 2020 - Nose of black fruits, prune, licorice, fig, spice, tea, coffee. Palate is quite ripe, fig, chocolate, spice, cloves, oak spice.
    Ripe modern wine, developing nicely.

December 18, 2019 - Our Philly Wine Group's Spanish/Portuguese Dinner (Mixto Restaurante, Phila., PA USA): Double decanted on Wednesday and taken to Philadelphia for our Philly Wine Group’s Spanish/Portuguese dinner but actually never used at the event as we had so much wine. Had it Friday night with a friend and again on Saturday evening. From a century old vineyard, a field blend of native grapes and very traditionally made. Bright translucent medium garnet crimson color. Very viscous looking in the glass. Very perfumed on the nose with florals and light sweet smelling red fruit. Slightly new-oak influenced to me but not heavy-handedly so. Nice texture and mouth feel with good acidity medium tannin and flavors of pomegranate, tart cherry, black tea and a licorice undertone. Long finish of 30 seconds or so. Very nice and held up well over the four days and was still drinking well at the end. Shows a lot of soul!

January 28, 2018 - Young and purple color. Tasted blind. I was thinking Rhone here, since I found ground white pepper and leather, blood and black fruit in the nose. But I was wrong. Still a very good wine, but unknown to me.

August 3, 2016 - Dark, almost black in the glass. Opulent and dense nose of sweet dark fruit, black cherries. Lovely balance and good structure. Full bodied. Fine tannins matched by ripe fruit. Long persistent finish. A big wine but not without elegance and with a lot of ego.
