November 10, 2022 - Wine is still showing well, but on the down hill slide it seems. Cherries on the nose, bright red in the glass, everything in balance. Drank over two days, second day was maybe a touch better. Last bottle of this, still have some wines from Ray in the cellar, may dig them out soon. Decent wine, too bad his story gets in the way.

October 18, 2022 - I was pleasantly surprised by this wine. Considering all the negative press on Mr Walker, this wine was actually pretty good. Classic Burg nose with red and black fruits, and some secondary notes of spice. palette was a little thin, but smooth and well rounded. Probably not worth the initial price I paid, and I was perhaps one of the lucky ones that got all the wine I ordered from him back in 2014/5, so am grateful that it drinks quite well. Shows that whatever the mess Maison Ilan ended up becoming, decent wine was made at one point.

April 15, 2022 - The nose is very expressive, mostly spice.
In the palate delicate fruit and medium body, in balance with spice.
Some oxidation shows on the finish, but not bad.

Tasted in a group of students and instructors. Interesting that the Ray Walker story gets in the way of peoples’ perception of the wine.

November 26, 2021 - Smells of watermelon candy, cherry cola, and a little barnyard.
On the palate, first cherry then char leather bacon
    Overall hint of blood.

    Best enjoyable with food!

On first opening it was funky but that dissipated over 1-2h.

April 1, 2021 - Always a crapshoot with MI, isn’t it? This wine has excellent vinous pedigree on display by way of the excellent source material character, but it seems like somewhere along the winemaking path shortcuts were taken. This bottle had a nice bouquet - a little funky/poop to start off - but the palate could only muster weak flavor, persistence, and body. Light tannins. I really feel like I’m drinking something in the 10% abv range.
Other tasters here that I respect, both pan and praise this wine which furthers my assumption about a certain degree of carelessness by the winemaker.
    5+10+14+6= 85
