June 5, 2014 - Rhone Rangers DC tasting June 4, 2014. The best in the Thacher line-up, a very fruit driven Syrah, with some complexity and a sense of completeness, thanks to 30% Grenache. Subtle smoke and wild herbs are balanced by abundant dark and red fruit, with pleasing tartness. Likeable and quaffable, another example of the brilliant Syrahs emerging from the cool conditions of 2011.

June 4, 2014 - Rhone Rangers DC (Longview Gallery - Washington, DC): Cool berries on the nose, olive, jerky, dried roses. Big but juicy with medium acid, chewy tannins, mixed berry fruit. Earth, teriyaki sauce, sweet root beer and roasted chestnut accents. 2011 is something of an anomaly, but I'm loving this restrained style. 74% Syrah and 26% Grenache.
