September 7, 2018 - Deep color, good nose and palate feel. Decanted for an hour.

August 21, 2018 - Here it's a lean-forward perfume that's so floral and herbal, and there stone, grass, mild white pepper, and dirt on a quieter base of cordoned, smokey pinot fruit that finishes with sweet lift. Arresting, like rambling across on an old faded beam as the cloudy breeze picks up.

July 30, 2018 - Tasted side-by-side with the '12 Ceras. Kept vacillating on which I liked better. The Ceras had more punch, more acidity, and was much richer, but, I think I preferred the smooth, delicate, and consistent flavors of the Botanica. Really a tough call.

July 20, 2018 - Prior bottle was 13 months ago and this wine remains in a spectacular spot. Blackberry, black cherry, earth and spices on the nose. Remains between medium and full bodied with bright black cherry upfront with deeper black raspberry in the back and through the middle. The mid-body remains stellar with a combination of depth and satiny richness that conveys elegance and polish. Red fruit notes come in towards the back with tart red cherry and red berry. Finish continues to show integrated spices, minerals and earth. As with the prior bottle, it still needs two hours open, but the reward is well worth the wait. The wine demonstrates a level of depth and balance, while preserving the contrasts that contribute to overall complexity in a way that few wines are capable of. This particular bottle showed more blackfruit qualities while my bottle before this came across as more redfruit dominant. To me, this resulted in a wine that felt just a touch deeper and more youthful. I have one more bottle which I will save for July 2019 while I look for more.

June 12, 2018 - Classic Botanica. Full of spicy, brambly florals and red fruits. Seductive and composed on the palate with great acidity.
