Community Tasting Notes 3

October 5, 2008 - Another fine showing for this well made German Reisling. Pears are the flavor here both in bouquet and taste. Taste is sharp, crisp, and finish fades quickly. For reislings, I prefer the finish to fade after an intense initial showing; otherwise prolonged flavors, for me, often are too sweet. It's drinking beautifully now, but I would guess at least another 5 years, if not more, of life. Bumped my score up a notch from previous note as I enjoyed this bottle a little more.

May 3, 2008 - Opened 5/2/08. Cork was a concern as mold grew on top and down through crack into middle, but not to the bottom. A beautiful wine that went well with baked herbed salmon. Golden in color with a tinge of green, taste of pears. No off or acidic flavors, definitley what I prefer in reislings.Sweet finish comes a few seconds after, but not cloying, very nice indeed, but fades within 10 seconds. There is a residual flavor that remain well after, not like a syrupy coating but more like an absorbtion effect. Swishing in mouth, I detect acids on tongue. 9.5% makes this semi sweet. Aging might be worth another 5 years but again my concern is the corks on these German whites. Fruit has integrated. Not like some fruit loaded whites, this has become refined and balanced. Since I didn't taste this upon release I can't speak on if the fruit once was more pronounced, however; my impression is this is a matured, evolved wine drinking at its peak. This may go a few more years, 2012 tops.

January 16, 2003 - this was quite a nice wine. It had a bouquet of apple and spice. It had a rich flavor with mineral, apple and quince notes. As indicated by the label this was on the drier side which almost threw me off the track when guessing the wine. It had good depth, balance and clean finish. 89 points.
