  March 21, 2023 - A really delicious and decently priced 2003, from a terroir just above Montrose in St Estephe. This bottle of Medoc was brilliant, and the acidity was remarkably fresh, giving the wine many layers to its dense core of fruit. The characteristic pleasant herbal character of Sociando Mallet is still present, just with more gloss and chew to the mid palate, and the wine comes off as plenty youthful still. The prime positioning of the estate seems to have moderated successfully the threat of overripeness we so often hear about this vintage. This is classic Medoc. Delicious.

  March 20, 2023 - My WOTN at the tasting event. True to Sociando's aromatic signature, with light cloves, some cherry ( the light red ones), and herbs, thyme in particular, fresh acidity and medium length supported by nicely integrated tanins. It has a nice and mouthwatering minerality and seems in its prime window right now, and will be probably another 5-10 years. Wonderful.

  March 16, 2023 - Lush red fruit, cedar and tobacco, well framed by mediterranen herbs, ink and menthol freshness. Most typical SM, although a bit more "herby" than the last bottle. But don't hesitate to open now and for another 3 years.

  February 26, 2023 - 13th of 36, decanted 90 minutes, perfect cork and level, as December bottle, clear upside as it leaves adolescence and gains (hopefully) nuance, 25+ years. F (17.5).
