May 27, 2023 - Surprisingly solid even now. Beautiful spice notes that mellowed the next day. Cherry and dark fruits on the nose with a lot of bramble and pepper.

April 7, 2022 - Still drinkable! For a second it came into its own, with beautiful fresh dark cherry tones along with blood and dried earth and a hint of spice.

    February 2, 2022 - Note: I use a scale on which 85 represents a very good wine.

Simply enjoyable. Fully integrated, smooth, no edges whatsoever.
I am not certain what this would have been like afew years ago, but it is singing now.

I will be drinking the other two in the near future, if I can remember.

Started this TN a month ago and never finished. The score stands on its own. Sorry about that.

June 23, 2018 - Nice w a Cheeseburger. “French” character, smooth, mature, medium bodied, nice but certainly more a drinker than anything special.

December 1, 2017 - A pleasing Northern Rhone Syrah, just tipping over its best days.

From 35 year vines, a hot vintage, and from the Northern Rhone’s largest appellation and largest (and probably most famous) producer.

At 14, almost 15 years, it’s still a dark cherry colour. A deep herbaceous, floral, wet pebble (almost nutty), meaty, nose follows, with a distinct sweet, heady but delicate Gin endnote. A classic, crystalline, dry, cooling, medium-light weight palate reveals this is a Northern Rhone Syrah. As does the drive of piercing, ripe, red berry & cassis fruit flavours, the strong floral, meaty mid palate, and the delicate, lingering minerals, fresh mint, and spicy oaked finish. Not as harmonious on the flavour profile as I’d like. But nice.

Drink now if you have some cellared. A Wozza 91/100 (3.4/5.0) from me.

September 27, 2017 - lost bottle in the cellar. Drinkable but the fruit has all but disappeared.

November 18, 2016 - This was really nice with an assortment of filet, salt crusted baked potato, and Milk Street boiled Asian chicken. Medium bodied, slightly spicy, red fruits, inviting nose and palate. Don't think to hard. Made a sleepover of six 13 year old girls tolerable. Don't discount that.

October 20, 2016 - Attractive medium nose has olives, pepper and roasted black fruit. Typical northern Rhone, admittedly the fruit is a little ripe/roasted. Palate is smooth and well balanced with nice savory fruit on entry. The intensity and flavors fades on the mid-palate into a demure finish.

May 16, 2016 - This has turned into a very solid bottle of wine. Very typical Syrah profile of pepper, herbs and red fruit. Has developed good balance with time. Medium weight and decent flavor depth for its peer group. Lacks complexity and certainly does not live up to some of the critic's scores. That aside, delicious mature Northern Rhone for drinking over the next few years. (88)
