January 3, 2020 - NYE @ Avery. Fully mature. Golden color with delicate bubbles still remaining. Complex, nutty, and still very much alive, but have to enjoy mature champagne. Drink any time.
December 6, 2019 - Zachy's BYO 2019: Fresh still, a bit plain but good layers. 93
July 25, 2019 - Light golden to straw color. Lovely slightly toasted nose, but not over the top. Very small bubbles that become more apparent after having the bottle open for 10 - 15 minutes. Very balanced, almost youthful with remnants of acidity. This was great, I wish I had more.
June 25, 2019 - Hugh’s bottle. Sea water nose (marine), plus some funk which blows off, eventually quite fresh, too simple, no yeast. Confirms for me that strangely 1988 was unsuccessful at Dom Pérignon.
May 18, 2019 - The color of apple juice, with aromas of sweet salty caramel. The same is reflected on the palate. Fine bubbles and good ullage though out of a 750ml bottle.
Acidity still intact and still some life left for this particular bottle although I think I would've preferred it a bit younger.
Officially the oldest wine I've had and my first birth wine as well.
SWC 06 is still the best Champagne I've had so far, I guess I'm impressed this has held up this well.
January 1, 2019 - Drinkable, yet clearly past prime with oxidative nutty sweet sour citrus element
November 17, 2018 - Out of Mag. One of the freshest 88s i’ve ever had. Gorgeous expression.
October 14, 2018 - The best 88 Champagnes from 1988 Part 3/3 Prestige Cuvees from Magnum (L'assiette champenois): From Magnum, not blind
Toast and oyster Shell. This is DP in perfection. Everything is there where you need it. At his peak. Compared to the P3 at the moment at the same level but in 5 years the P3 will overtake the regular degorgement I guess. 98
August 18, 2018 - From magnum. Better than usual. Clear profile, but not overly deep. Much better from larger formats at this point.
July 29, 2018 - 88 is one of my favorite vintages for champagne and this wine did not disappoint. Wheat, bread and mineral flavors with a crisp acidity and delicate mousse. Hints of butter scotch and caramel. First rate wine
