October 24, 2017 - XVIII Salón de los Mejores Vinos de España -Peñín; 10/23/2017-10/24/2017 (IFEMA - Madrid): Intense rather than elegant.
Little boring PX with primary aromas of raisins, figs or dates. Nothing sophisticated anyway.
Evidently sweet in the mouth with a well-balanced alcohol and a not very good length. A bit ordinary at its best and obviously that isn't what you're looking for in a no-labelled VOS.
Lowest score among its 1730 peers according with wine critics. Understood why.

July 4, 2016 - July 4th with Eric and Deb: bought in Spain over 10 years ago. Ripe figs, toffee, touch of orange marmalade on the nose. mid is rich but kept fresh by the bright acidity. (now i know why i thought of Toro Albala wines - the acidity is similar.) ripe figs, orange marmalade in mid. buttery. sweet motor oil kept fresh by the acidity. long finish. excellent.

    December 24, 2014 - A delightful desert in a glass.
The color and viscosity of motor oil.
A walk-in cigar humidor on the nose, but a surprising refreshing acidity on the attack. A thick coating of raisins and figs barely precedes a full dose of molasses.
Great by itself or with some bri on stollen.

January 9, 2006 - Spain: Night 3 - Salvador Rojo (San Fernando, 23) (Seville): again - this is my guess on this wine, i bought a bottle in the airport as well but its hard to figure out..
delicious raisins and figs, good balance, excellent acidity, lighter than many on the palatte. i compared it to Albala 71 but i cant remmebr why now :)
in any case - a good qpr.
