June 20, 2020 - 67 Pall Mall vertical (2017, 2014, 2009, 2008, 1998, 1993): Deeper yellow color, touch of oxidation on nose that blows off with a bit of air, wonderfully rich on the palate with yellow fruit and just a touch of spice and acidity that leads into a super long finish. Beautiful wine, and the wine of the tasting in my opinion.

    February 29, 2020 - Blind tasting.

Most people guessed much younger but the pineapple sensations led the more experienced tasters to Corton. This had the typical 1993 vintage ripeness without being overdone in any way, with some cream and gravel to finish off. Most definitely this wine will improve with further age.

February 27, 2020 - It started out to be very corton charlie with dried extract and pineapple slice. With time, it became very mineral-driven. Good weight and length on the palate. Martray's CC during this era (93 and before) can age for a long long time.

  • Ms. Bubblehead Likes this wine:

January 5, 2020 - Nose was creamy, tropical fruits, pineapple and after a few hours in the glass showed more of a caramel sensation. The palate was pretty ripe and warm, but with acidity and was very enjoyable. I think it is at peak but should hold for a while. Definitely thought it improved with air.

December 24, 2019 - From an excellent looking bottle, this wine had a deep yellow center and clear rims. The medium+ intensity nose offered up over-ripe apples, pear, almond paste, and white stone.

In the mouth, this wine very rich but with very firm acidity. It had excellent length. It was best after 3 hours of air facilitated more integration.

The touch of over-ripeness leaves this wine a bit one-diimensional. However, it was dramatic and entertaining. While it will last 5-10 years, I would be inclined to drink this up.

Burgundy-Report

(Bonneau du Martray Corton-Charlemagne) Relatively pale colour. The nose is open and high toned, quite pure. The palate shows a lovely blend of fat and acidity surrounding a super core of concentrated young fruit. Very long too. This will be a wonderful wine, but should still wait.
