August 1, 2020 - Pure Southern France joy in a glass. Lovely red fruited palate combined with garrigue notes, thyme, lavender, mint - a hint of leather and tobacco. This is still very fresh, airy, shows no signs of fatigue. Old school neuf, no bells and whistles. Love it.

July 9, 2020 - From a 500 ml bottle. I haven't had a lot of luck with CDPs lately, as I have found them increasingly heavy and painful to have more than one or two glasses. This bottle was different. It was open for business almost right away, with a smooth, velvety texture and classic Pegau plums, garrigue and a hint of brett/funk. Certainly not light, but much lighter and more balanced than other CDPs I've had lately. Ready now, certainly in secondary mode, but lots of life left (A-).

June 21, 2020 - Getting down to the last few of my original case. I'm going to keep these last two a few more years. Deep, deep red with aromas of blueberries on pour. Looks amazing with gorgeous color. A little cloudy in the glass at first but that seemed to burn off. Fabulous fruit for a 16 year old bottle. Integrated tannins. Finish borders a little on sweet but not overly so. A wonderful effort.

May 28, 2020 - Opened for an hour with glass poured off. Expanded over the first two hours. Just wonderful.

May 24, 2020 - Crimson in color. 14% ABV. Stunning nose of red fruits, garrigue, lavendar and leather. Medium body with exquisite acidity. Concentration and power that belies 16 years of bottle age. Clean and well balanced. Cherries, kirsch liqueur, spiced plums and pepper on the palate. Tremendous length on the finish. Rustic, yet fresh and absolutely delicious. Great CdP from an overlooked vintage. This wine will drink well for at least another 2-4 years.

(DOMAINE PEGAU DU PAPE RED) #1; COLOR-dark; NOSE-complex & exciting; cabbage & Brussel sprout covered by huuge vanilla component; dark black licorice; & some wild cassis; TASTE-Wow!! This wine is kicking serious ass; hugely complex; enormous amounts of bacon & leather; blueberry pie till your touching the sky; loaded w/ fresh berries; Vanilla for days; very luscious; huge mouthfeel; massive attack; beautiful firm ripe tannins, but covered w/ so much fruit & complexity; seamless mid-palate; structure; long, long finish; well-rounded; will last for 10+ years, but is approachable now; not cheap, but serious wine; elegance & refinement; tremendous effort; balance & harmony; RP-94; GV-94+
