September 6, 2020 - Clear deep ruby/garnet; clean medium plus nose of ripe cassis, fall leaves, savoury herbs, ripe plums and pyrazine; dry; high acidity; medium plus fine tannins; high alcohol; medium plus body; pronounced flavour intensity; palate has dried/ripe fruit with addition of inky tar and cocoa; long finish; showing really well - drink now or in another year; nose is elegant, mature Bordeaux

December 25, 2019 - Drank this one on Christmas Day. Have enjoyed a few bottles over the past couple of years. Sadly it's no longer available in Australia,so not likely to be getting any more of these.

Unfortunately this particular bottle was at the end of it's life. It's was quite tart and at the first stage of vinegar. Really disappointed as Purple Angel is normally a wonderful wine.

Only have 1 more bottle in the cellar,so I'm hoping it's not in the same condition as this.

July 3, 2019 - In OCNJ with Valerie's family. Second wine of the evening, good chance to check in on this, its been a few years. Fun wine to drink with this group, first experience with S. American wine for most. Splash decanted, drank over 45 minutes.

From prior notes:" Deep purple color. Nose of red and black fruits, violet/lavender. Perfume like. Palate repeats, more dark fruit, earth, forest floor, mushrooms, coffee, cedar...the floral/perfume nature is what makes it interesting to me..."

Took a bit longer to show than prior bottles, in about 20 minutes the texture and blue fruits/floral notes started coming through. Wine is still drinking well, classic Carmenere profile, settled in and drinking well. I don't have enough experience with the varietal to have any insight on aging potential from here...my guess is this will be best over the next 5 years

May 4, 2019 - Clear deep ruby; clean medium plus developing nose of leather, soil, wet leaves, cassis, toast, smoke and cedar; dry; medium plus acidity; medium plus tannins; high alcohol; medium plus body; medium plus flavour intensity; pfn with addition of tar; medium plus finish; outstanding quality; drink now, has potential for another few years of aging; amazing nose, but finish and intensity didn’t keep up; still a delicious wine
