November 12, 2021 - From magnum, Pnp- this was showing very well, amazing freshness, but open and showy. Lots of maillard things going on in the background. It’s so interesting to try these late releases as a wine bottled back then would be so so much more advanced. A treat, and only a shade behind the 76 in my opinion
March 1, 2020 - Out of magnum this was a delicious aged Champagne with wonderful nutty and yeasty flavors on the complex and intense finish. A bit linear and less-giving than the ‘76 but nevertheless a lovely bubbly
March 23, 2019 - Fra magnum.
Fullmoden nese.
Bakte epler dynket med lekre røyktoner.
Ren med fin intensitet.
Perfekt mousse.
Gogget i 2013. Kan ligge i 30 år til.
February 25, 2017 - From magnum. Pretty profile with apple flowers, truffle, white floral notes and ripe orchard fruit. Disgorged 2015.
May 6, 2014 - Retrospective Old and Older Treasured wines 1955 (Restaurant Michael Winnetka IL): Clean color, good bubbles, shorter finish but good mouthful.
December 7, 2013 - From magnum - medium yellow color with abundant, leisurely, tiny bubbles; mature, mushroom, dried mushroom, light sauteed onion, yeasty nose; tasty, poised, structure, yeasty, mineral, very tart apple palate; long finish 92+ points
June 5, 2013 - 1 off btl for our ladies night. The other 2 were crisp, clean with good effervescent.
August 19, 2011 - From Mag.. The retailer states that this was a Red label Brut but the bottle matched the above picture for this wine.
Killer nose that just got better and better. Brioche, lemon tart, yeast, nuttiness, and stones on the nose.
The palate is extraordinarily youthful and energetic with an explosive delivery of tart apples, supple acidity,
lingering minerality, and gamey/ mousy notes on the finish. This wine just got better and better throughout
the evening and proved to be a favorite on a table of ten..
August 17, 2011 - A fond going away dinner (HB Home Bistro, Chicago IL): nose: well layered and balanced nose filled with tones of toast, warm honey, brioche, peaches, white fruits and lanolin tones. While it showed maturity, there was a freshness to it as well
taste: fuller bodied with medium+ acidity still showing itself. The acidity isn't searing, just very complimentary. Well balanced and layered with tones of warm honey, brioche, peaches, lanolin, leesy tones and a touch of bleu cheese on the back end
overall: this was from magnum and it developed well in the glass. This was a wonderful mature champagne. Still had a good amount of life left in it as the bubbles were still very much there
