January 11, 2020 - Quelle jeunesse!

January 3, 2020 - 2012 Domaine Jamet Côte-Rôtie was complex, elegant and perfumed. This youthful Syrah was clear and deep ruby in colour with no sediments. The nose was extremely perfumed, layered and distinctive, with jasmine, violets, black olives and game, followed by raspberries and redcurrants. There was subtle enhancing green bell pepper in the background. The mouthfeel was full-bodied, with medium level of tea-like finely grained tannin. The long aftertaste was a symphony of floral, gamey and red fruit flavours. Jamet Côte-Rôtie was incredibly nuanced, balanced and ethereal, and Jamet demonstrated great Syrah could be made with low extract and moderately low alcohol level at 13%, which would be considered low in modern standards.

According to Jamet's official website, the wine was pure Syrah, blended from 20 plots on 15 different lieu-dit. The grapes were fermented whole bunch and macerated for three weeks. The ferment was aged in 15% new oak barrels for 22 months.

December 27, 2019 - Aromatics of red fruits, blackcurrants, violets, incense, smoked meats, perfume of flowers and strawberries. Palate of black cherries, violets, spices, flowers. On the feminine side, silky and elegant. Nice spiced finish. Beautiful. This is still youthful and has great promise. Enjoyable now but it’s best has yet to come. WOTN

November 29, 2019 - Violet, sweet and delicate aromatics. Very Burgundian with freshness and zip on the palate.

November 5, 2019 - Very aromatic from a half bottle. Lots of thyme, sage, garrique, blue and red fruits, good minerality, and smooth tannins. It is a very complex wine that is ready to drink, at least from a half bottle. Had this at Le Villaret in Paris.
