nose: Plums, meat, dark fruit, tobacco
Defined, rather lean for it's high alcohol

February 11, 2022 - Deep garnet in the glass. The bouquet clearly etches what the palate is about to deliver: cassis, plum, tobo, a touch of iodine, herbs de Provence, smoked meats and bit of tangerine zest. The mouthfeel is hefty; weighty even. The finish is a touch short, but packed full of mingling flavors. This is a wine that is hitting all cylinders just now. Some slight sediment. 15% alc. and it doesn’t show at all. With various cheeses (including Mountain Top Blue), crusty bread, and ham relish that paired very well with the wine. 02.11.22. Recommended, but leaning heavily toward Highly Recommended.
May 16, 2020 - Powerful and hot yet complex with subtle earthy notes, cigar and cayenne pepper hints. Nose of Black cherry, blackberry jam with hints of turpentine. Full bodied, long in mouth, dry finish. Very enjoyable

March 29, 2018 - Nice! Not overly complex but very well balanced and drinkable. 15% alcohol is sometimes a problem but not here. Grenache (70%), syrah (20%), mourvèdre (10%).
June 26, 2016 - Saturday afternoon tasting at Chuck's (Chuck's Fine Wines): This had been decanted which I think helped. Good showing. Purple in color. The nose is pretty with raspberries, black cherries, spice and herbs. Not a monster. medium bodied. Juicy acidity. Black and red raspberries on the palate. Nice finish. There is a bit of complexity and some tannins. Probably needs a few years, but won't be along term ager. Still, it was outstanding right now.
June 25, 2016 - Better this year than last year. It has opened up a bit more. Rather simple, but a good drink. Very grenachey with cherry candy being the dominant note.
April 13, 2016 - Un jeune C9P. Bouche pleine et charnue sur les fruits noirs et la réglisse. Le vin sature un peu par son opulence. Pas mal fait mais manque de finesse et de subtilité. 88 sur 100.
January 18, 2016 - Black pepper and black tea aromas lead to huckleberry and black olive flavors with a slight earthy, tannic finish. Great acidity/fruit balance and full-bodied with lasting finish.
January 10, 2016 - Very young. Needs time.
