January 24, 2018 - granato intenso, erbe, terra, pepe, frutta cotta, fumo, caffè; tannino presente, qualche residuo di cantina non molto gradevole in retronasale, molto lungo, finale di liquirizia, forse appena all'inizio della fase discendente

November 4, 2015 - A blend consisting mainly of Cabernet Sauvignon and Montepulciano with a small dose (10%) of Merlot. Fermented spontaneously with indigenous yeasts and macerated for 2 weeks. Aged for a year in barriques and kept for another year in bottles before release. 14% alcohol.
Dense and fully opaque black-red color. Very big and concentrated nose with brooding aromas of cherry marmalade, ripe forest fruits, chocolatey oak, some wild strawberries, a little bit of alcohol and a hint of blackcurrant jam. The wine is rich, soft and very full-bodied on the palate with very ripe and quite concentrated flavors of juicy dark berries, toasty oak spice, plummy fruits, some boysenberry jam, a little bit of cocoa and a hint of almost overripe blackcurrants. The structure relies mainly on the very ample and grippy tannins as the acidity feels rather low and soft. The finish is very long, powerful and heavily grippy with mouth-drying tannins and intense flavors of tannic bitterness, ripe plummy fruit, some juicy red forest berries, a little bit of dusty wood and a hint of chocolatey oak.
A massively big, muscular and concentrated powerhouse of a wine with very assertive tannins and lots of concentrated fruit. The wine is obviously built for the long haul, but the modest acidity doesn't really promise much about extended cellaring. Perhaps peaking at 10-15 years of age - not going to be as long-lived as the wines from cooler vintages. Pretty great stuff for a modernist Marche red, but perhaps a bit too expensive for the style at 39€. -
