December 10, 2023 - Delightful. Was concerned it could be past its prime. However, it was delicious and drinking well, though not one for long keeping from here.

December 16, 2022 - In a nice drinking window. Tannins well resolved and silky.
On initial pour a touch acidic with some earthy tones and ash (in a positive way). Improving over the next several hours, and pairing well with cheese and a meat dish. The next day still held strong with additional tertiary notes. A satisfying bottle at a very nice point in its life.

December 31, 2019 - Tasting note from 2017 still a very good description, it does need time to open up.

January 1, 2019 - Lovely nose of cherries, baking spices, and cacao. Good balance of cherry fruit, spice, and acid, with good length. An elegant Barolo ready to drink, despite some dancing tannin. Very nice.

December 16, 2018 - Has moved up another point from the last bottle, even better balance between tannins and remaining fruit. True class!

May 20, 2018 - Opened two hours before consumption, and drank over another two hours. Very elegant and classy wine, not a power-house but full of refinement. If anything, still slightly tannic, so I trust it will keep well for another five years or so. Yum, yum.

November 6, 2017 - Light crimson in color. 14% ABV. Stunning nose of red fruits, tar, lavender and wet pavement. Medium body with supreme acidity. Powerful and concentrated all the while maintaining a sense of elegance. Dried black cherries, anise and iron on the palate. The finish is long and silky with substantial tannins. Absolutely glorious Barolo that is aging gracefully. Drink over the next 4-6 years.

April 22, 2017 - SO'd for 2 hours. Medium garnet color with some brick towards the rim. First slightly closed but wakes up with a few swirls in the glass. Fascinating notes of tobacco, soy, wet leaves, tar, some ferrous notes too, also some dried red fruits and licorice. It's medium-full bodied, pretty dense and has still medium tannin that is present but nicely integrated. Medium-high acidity providing plenty of freshness. Good length. A beautifully aged traditional La Morra Barolo that is at the beginning of its drinking window. And as with all Marcarini wines it's also a great value for classic age-worthy Barolo.

January 1, 2017 - Opened to contrast with the Brunate yesterday and more approachable now. Polished garnet colour. Opens up after being open for 30 mins. Good balancing acidity and length. Lots of sediment so worth decanting.
